Research shows that children make the most progress when therapy is conducted in a naturalistic environment. I am able to offer therapy sessions, consultations and evaluations in a child’s home, daycare or community setting.
Evaluations: The first step to therapy is determining your child’s areas of strengths and challenges. Evaluations may consist of therapeutic observations, parent report and administration of formal tests. Goals are then determined based on evaluation results, but most importantly family concerns and priorities for intervention.
Consultations: A consult may be scheduled to discuss your child’s speech and language development prior to, during or at discharge of therapy services. Consults typically include parents and can include other service providers such as therapists, teachers or other caregivers.
Therapy: The length of therapy sessions are typically one hour, but can be adjusted as needed to maximize a child’s response. Parents will be provided with ideas or specific activities at the end of sessions in order to carry over therapy strategies to every day routines. Parents are their child’s expert and therefor are the best teachers!
